Welcome to my blog!

If you ask me what my very favourite thing is I would not hesitate to say my family. I came into motherhood quite late on, and was immediately overwhelmed with how amazing it is. Now I would like nothing more than to be a Domestic Goddess, and surround my family in love, good food, beautiful things and lots of happy memories. And like the majority of families these days, we need to do it on a budget!

I firmly believe we all have a little bit of the Domestic Goddess inside us, just waiting to break out. Whether that is knowing how to make a roast chicken feed a family of 4 for a week, being able to make, repair or recycle clothes, hunting down a bargain, or simply turning everyday, simple things into pretty or useful items, with a little bit of imagination we can all dip in to the Goddess inside and make our lives that little bit more interesting.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy sharing my (challenging) journey into Domestic Goddessness!

History repeating itself.

Hi folks, and welcome to the beginning of another week. We're nearly a quarter of the way through the year already. Time is certainly whizzing by! I am yet another Handmade Monday nearer to being a working mum again, but the least said about that the better really! Thanks once again to Wendy for hosting the Handmade Monday blog hop. Looking forward to reading what everyone has been up to over the last week. And here I need to make a bit of an apology. For some reason I am not always able to post comments on blogs and I don't know why. I do most of my blog reading on my ipad, and I have always been able to post without a problem until recently. I'm hoping it's just a glitch and will work itself out soon. I just wanted to tell everyone that I do read the blogs, even if I'm not always able to post a comment about them!

I don't have a lot to show this week. Last week was half term as those of you with kids will know. It was also my first half term with a term-time child, so I had a full week with both my girls for the first time since the Christmas holidays. I wanted to make the most of it. We didn't do as much as I wanted to in the end, but we did have a trip to the canal museum at Portland Basin museum and caught up with our play dough making, story book reading and dvd watching! Caoimhe loved Portland Basin. It's a really good way to spend a few hours if you are in the area. The museum covers industrial and social history of the region and is quite interactive. They seem to have set the place out with kids in mind, as there is a learning centre and a play area too, plus some of the exhibits are very 'hands on'

Trying on hats.
It's the sort of place I would have loved to visit as a child. Definitely worth a visit!

My girl was also far more productive than I was, making a beautiful blueberry cake with grandma

I love that Caoimhe enjoys spending so much time with my mum, inevitably baking. It's something I remember doing with my grandma too, and I loved our Saturday afternoons spent making jam tarts and sponge cakes and so on. I'm so glad that my own daughters will get to do the same things that I enjoyed as a child, too.

My own contribution to Handmade Monday is a little sad and unfinished. I had hoped to get most of it completed for today, however my youngest had something to say about that, and refused to sleep last night, so I couldn't do it!

I shall reveal more when it's finished, as I know what I want to do but it just might not end up that way!

Well unfortunately afternoon naps don't last very long in this house, and I am being shouted at by a certain young lady so that will have to do for today!
Don't forget to have a look at Wendy's blog.
Til next time!

Lovely photos of the children! Oh I remember the afternoon nap stage well - and the frantic "doing" time which was inevitably cut short by a child who didn't want to sleep!

Know what you mean about baking with Grandma. Half term last week and I too made jam tarts with the Grands. I do so hope their memories of it will be as pleasant as yours.

I think its safe to say you've been outdone by your daughter this week, that cake looks delicious!
Time spent with family is definately time to be treasured. I'm intrigued to see what that knitting is going to become, I love the colours. x

It is funny, I look forward to the holidays, and then I'm glad when they go back to school. We stayed at home and did day trips to the beach, the park, the simple things but they enjoyed it and we weren't as tired as taking a trip to visit the relatives.

I used to love school holidays and spending so much time with the children. Hectic but very enjoyable.
I love hands on museums, better than old stuffy ones.

A late visitor from last weeks Handmade Monday or is it early for this week! Loved reading your blog, sounds like you had a super half term, like the colours in your knitting.
