Welcome to my blog!

If you ask me what my very favourite thing is I would not hesitate to say my family. I came into motherhood quite late on, and was immediately overwhelmed with how amazing it is. Now I would like nothing more than to be a Domestic Goddess, and surround my family in love, good food, beautiful things and lots of happy memories. And like the majority of families these days, we need to do it on a budget!

I firmly believe we all have a little bit of the Domestic Goddess inside us, just waiting to break out. Whether that is knowing how to make a roast chicken feed a family of 4 for a week, being able to make, repair or recycle clothes, hunting down a bargain, or simply turning everyday, simple things into pretty or useful items, with a little bit of imagination we can all dip in to the Goddess inside and make our lives that little bit more interesting.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy sharing my (challenging) journey into Domestic Goddessness!

A bit of messy play

First off, a quick mention for Handmade Monday , an event where you can share your crafty blogs with other like minded crafty bloggy type people. Please have a look, there are some lovely blogs linked over there!

It's been a busy weekend here and very little crafting has been done, apart from the completion of a baby blanket (at long last!) I'm actually getting a little bit fed up of knitting and crocheting baby items, even though I haven't done loads. So much so that I am still tackling a cabled cardie I started about 3 weeks ago. I normally rattle off cable really quickly because I love doing it, but I have been distracted with doing other things,so I think I might need to have a bit of a rest. Instead I have now finished the crocheted baby blanket I've been making since records began...really, there is nothing worse than endless, repetitive trebles, row upon row upon row.... unless it's row upon row of garter stitch! But Friday night saw it's completion. Hurrah!
Another cardie was completed a few weeks ago, in a lovely variegated wool I have had in my stash for quite a long time. I did promise a photo several blogs ago but I have only just got round to uploading it to my puter (I'm, such a slacker!)

In other news, we had a fab afternoon of messy play last week. An hour, some paint, a paper plate, some googly eyes and an egg carton later we produced this:

Much fun was had, and it was nice to come up with a use for at least some of the stash of egg boxes I have (that I keep forgetting to take back to the market!) They make good palettes for poster paint as well, incidentally.

Til next time :)

My son and I made a caterpillar in the same way, he loved it, I'd saved up loads of egg boxes so ours is extra extra long. My son is very proud of him :) I wish I could knit well enough to do baby clothes any thing else would take me years and years!

First, that sweater is so cute! The pattern makes me think of sweet little birds. I just love it. It may have taken you forever, but it was worth it.
And how fun the caterpillar and sweet little ladybug are. I remember doing things like that with my boys. I miss that sort of thing. Time for grandkids!
