Welcome to my blog!

If you ask me what my very favourite thing is I would not hesitate to say my family. I came into motherhood quite late on, and was immediately overwhelmed with how amazing it is. Now I would like nothing more than to be a Domestic Goddess, and surround my family in love, good food, beautiful things and lots of happy memories. And like the majority of families these days, we need to do it on a budget!

I firmly believe we all have a little bit of the Domestic Goddess inside us, just waiting to break out. Whether that is knowing how to make a roast chicken feed a family of 4 for a week, being able to make, repair or recycle clothes, hunting down a bargain, or simply turning everyday, simple things into pretty or useful items, with a little bit of imagination we can all dip in to the Goddess inside and make our lives that little bit more interesting.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy sharing my (challenging) journey into Domestic Goddessness!

Fun in the Sun

How was your bank holiday weekend? I hope you found time to spend it with loved ones. For once the sun was shining and Monday was a lovely day here in the north west. We didn't want to waste it even though me and the eldest were a tad off colour and decided to go for a little drive out. That little drive out resulted in a lovely afternoon at  Standedge Tunnel visitors centre in Marsden. It really was a case of seeing the sign and saying 'shall we see what that's about?'

The girls loved it. There's an outdoor play area with picnic tables, and an indoor soft play area too. As well as a small exhibition telling you about the tunnel and a craft space too (unfortunately dosed on our visit) Just a few yards away there's a cafe where you can not only get the requisite ice creams for the small people, but also tickets for a boat ride too. We didn't partake on  this occasion but plan to on our return. We'll also make sure we follow the nature trail. Unfortunately our pram is just a bit big really for the trail so I'll make sure I take a sling for the little man next time.

It was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours with the kids and without sending much money too (always a bonus) If you're in the area then definitely take a look.

I haven't got much to show this week for  Handmade Monday I don't know were the week has gone to be honest. I did have a trip to a Haberdashery in Bolton earlier today and bought myself some fabric.... If you want to know what I'm going to use it for well you'll just have to wait and see!

Til next time!

Always good to have an enjoyable bank holiday and the weather helped, didn't it? Look forward to seeing what you make with the fabrics.

It sounds a great place Helen, shame about the craft space being closed but one of the good reasons to go back again. Hope you have a good week.

The weather, warm and sunny, was unusual for a bank holiday wasn't it? It sounds like you had a wonderful time.
The flowery fabric you've bought looks lovely. Looking forward to seeing what you make with it.
