Welcome to my blog!

If you ask me what my very favourite thing is I would not hesitate to say my family. I came into motherhood quite late on, and was immediately overwhelmed with how amazing it is. Now I would like nothing more than to be a Domestic Goddess, and surround my family in love, good food, beautiful things and lots of happy memories. And like the majority of families these days, we need to do it on a budget!

I firmly believe we all have a little bit of the Domestic Goddess inside us, just waiting to break out. Whether that is knowing how to make a roast chicken feed a family of 4 for a week, being able to make, repair or recycle clothes, hunting down a bargain, or simply turning everyday, simple things into pretty or useful items, with a little bit of imagination we can all dip in to the Goddess inside and make our lives that little bit more interesting.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy sharing my (challenging) journey into Domestic Goddessness!

Brrrrrrrr!!

I can't believe how quickly Autumn seems to have hit! I know we haven't had the best summer but I really didn't expect to be needing big coats and the heating on before the end of September. But here we are! It did give me a reason to find my mojo and get my crochet hook out though. I realised that the Littlest doesn't have a winter hat so thought I should do something about it.

The photo shows the hat I made over the last couple of evenings. It's in a lovely soft baby chunky yarn and i'm not sure if you can see from the picture bit I added a scalloped edge just for a bit of interest.

Of course the Biggest wants one now, so the hook will be out again later when she decides what colour she wants.

I know I have been missing in action for a couple of weeks. Sorry about that! Sometimes life gets in the way a bit and over the last few weeks I don't seem to have had a minute to myself.

I have been a busy girl on the baking front. We seem to have turned Tuesdays into mummy and Flip Flop's  baking day. We've made lots of pasties, Herman bread and of course Herman cakes. The biggest hit was apple and blueberry muffins and though i say so myself they were delicious :)

More of the same this week, too. She starts school nursery next week so I am making the most of it!

I'm linking up with Wendy for Handmade Monday over on  Handmade Harbour  Go and have a look at some lovely blogs :)

Til next time!

It is lovely Helen - think you might have to start taking orders. It is cold, wet and so miserable today - such a long time until spring. Hope you have a good week.

I love the hat, and no wonder the biggest wants one too. It looks lovely and snug for this awful weather we're having.

Lovely hat. I really like the brim. It really has turned chilly. We have been busy crocheting slippers.... too many cold toes. Can I ask what is a herman cake?

@MamaDragon: Herman cake is a sourdough friendship cake. I've bogged about it before. Google it there's loads of info available on the net. Not everyone's cup of tea but we love it:)
