Caoimhe had her third birthday party on Saturday and of course I've been fretting about it for weeks. In the end it seemed to go well enough, and she certainly seemed to enjoy herself!
Thank you to all of our family and friends who came from near and far to help us celebrate, it was really appreciated and lovely to see so many loved ones under the same roof!¬ Caoimhe loved seeing everyone and of course loves all her presents!
I promised a picture of the cake. I finished it at about 9.45 on Friday night. It wasn't easy making and decorating it away from Caoimhe's prying eyes, so it had to be done at night after she went to bed.
It was made with a chocolate layer and a layer of vanilla with chocolate drops, sandwiched together with vanilla buttercream. I'd love to tell you how it tasted but I didn't get any!
Short and sweet this week, as my attention is being sought elsewhere. Small children make an awful lot of noise when they want you!
Don't forget to visit Wendy over on her blog for Handmade Monday and I'll see you next time.
Til then!

The cake looks great, very professional. I love organising kids events, especially the food part, although that might be because they're not my kids so I have less pressure! Hope the children all had a good time. x
What a fantastic cake! Peppa Pig looks fabulous and any three year old would have been thrilled to bits. The idea of entertaining a group of three year olds would give me caniptions!
What a fab cake - it's no wonder you didn't get any! I remember the noise and chaos of children's parties when mine were little - and the post-party exhaustion and mess. Fun, though x
The cake is fantastic, good on you now you can sit with your feet up and maybe a glass of wine, alright orange juice.
Well done Helen, the cake is gorgeous. Definitely one or two days of feet up if possible.
I love it :)
Can't beat Peppa Pig really!
Cake is amazing to look at and I bet it tastes fab....buttercream is one of of my most favourite thing ever!!
Hope you get some 'you' time soon xx
The cake is gorgeous! Yes, children's parties are a lot of work - have some relaxation now (not that its too likely at this time of year - but even a couple of hours to yourself would be nice) Mich :)
That cake is AMAZING!! I bet she loved it and thinks she has the best mum ever!!
The cake looks like fun, glad your daughter enjoyed it!
It's always the same isn't it, you put in all the effort making something as wonderful as this and then forget to have some yourself! I bet your daughter was thrilled wasn't she?
This cake RULES! I bet there is a small part of you that really didn't want that cake cutting. I would have been running round it fretting lol. Well done hun! This is a lovely piece of work.
Love the Peppa pig cake. glad you managed to take a photo of it before it got dismantled. Hugs Mrs A.
I absolutely adore your cake :)Those little piggies rubbing their tummies is just classic - bet they ate all the cake.
Your cake is cute and charming. I love the design of the cake. It's very quirky and fun.
It's lovely having the family and friends around for a happy event, and you can't get much happier than a childs birthday.
Yes they are noisy when they want to be :o)

That's stunning. I'm not looking forward to making amazing cakes for my son - I can do the cake part, but decorating them - I struggle with basic icing!
What a lovely cake! I know when my kids were small I never would have had time for a blog. But you do such a great job. :) I'm so glad you share, it brings back such fun memories.
Fabulous cake! I hope you have recovered now, in time for the Christmas countdown!

Love the birthday cake, I bet you had to be quick taking a pic before it got eaten!
What a super cake. Good excuse to make another (minus the candles) as you didn't get any! Keep the next one all for yourself!
